Black Visual Grammar
is a designated space for people who identify as Black. In this third edition of Black Visual Grammar titled Kindred, we will be exploring relationships. Relationsips to kinship with cosmos, community, family, ideas, and practices. This is a space for Black people who have never collaged before, as well as those who frequently collage. All necessary materials including an archive of thousands of images, scissors, glue, and paper will be available during workshops. You are also welcome to bring images that speak to you.

Saturday, August 24th from 11:00 to 17:30 is the primary workshop. Sunday, August 25th from 11:00 to 17:30 includes a welcome breakfast and an extended working session. The welcome breakfast is hosted by Elizaveta Khan from the ELK festival. After breakfast, those who wish can continue working and creating. Please note that this event and working period are optional (we would love to see you there if you can make it, however, if you can’t make it that’s okay). On Friday, August 30th selected works made during workshops will be exhibited as part of ELK 6. Doors open at 18:00 hr.
