Spheres & Circles Circles & Spheres

Evolving from a series of seminars, panel discussions, workshops and performances held at the Kunsthalle am Hamburgerplatz as part of Isaiah Lopaz’ guest professor position, Spheres & Circles Circles & Spheres, combined installation, dance, lecture, and performance as methods of framing spectrums of Black Queer histories, strains of the Black Queer present, and visions of Black Queer futures. This event, curated and directed by Isaiah Lopaz was held at Beursschouwburg (in Brussels) and featured  works by Adeola Aderemi, W.G.S.J. Isenia, Kopano Maroga, and Isaiah Lopaz.

Spirits of a Diaspora Light Years Beyond the Milky Way

Accompanying Isaiah Lopaz’ solo in Spheres and Circles Circles & Spheres, this series of collages depicts the syncretised deities of an interstellar African Diaspora, and the spirits of a nameless world that they have found themselves at home in. Described in an original short story written for this hybrid event, these collages were projected during the reading of this tale.
